He imparted this love to his children and grandchildren. John was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt and fish his entire life. He is also survived by numerous extended family members, including sister and brother in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, whom he loved and loved him in return. John is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Zachary David Bolyard Jr., Kobain Lee Bolyard and Kasen Don Bolyard of Fort Wayne, IN. John is survived by four grandchildren, Zachary David Bolyard and Kaseo Hurt of Fort Wayne, IN, John W. and wife Vicky (McCune) of Huttonsville, WV. Fidler and husband Eric of Chambersburg, PA and John W. In addition to his wife and siblings, John is survived by two children, Lisa K. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Marie Moss, Lorraine Burks, Mary Virginia Arnett, Carrie Arbogast, Frank Wamsley and Josephine Wamsley.

John is one of nine children and is survived by two siblings, Bayard Wamsley of Adolph, WV and Pauline Burks of Buckeye, WV. John is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Brenda Louise (Harris) Wamsley. John was born in Valley Bend, WV on September 9, 1939, to the late Paul Byron and Daisy Myrtle (Markley) Wamsley. John William Wamsley Sr., 80 of Clarksburg, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, March 20, 2020, at the Clarksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Online condolences, are especially welcomed and encouraged during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, as attending public services may not be in your best health interest at this time as recommended by the CDC. Interment will follow at 2pm at the Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville. Main Street Clarksburg on Thursday, March 26, 2020, from 9:30 am until the funeral hour at 10:30 am with Pastor Fred Aves presiding. Family and friends will be received at Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He loved company and he enjoyed teasing and playing with children. John’s quiet and warm personality made visitors and family always feel welcomed into his home. John enjoyed helping his neighbors, whether it was sharing his harvest of vegetables from his garden or repairing something that needed fixed.

John was a proud member of the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition construction team when it came to WV in 2007. John worked for Blake Construction, helping to serve and build most of the homes in the Bridgeport area over a period of 30+ years and he also worked for Huffman Construction, where he helped refurbish many of the WVU academic buildings and the WVU Coliseum. He also, was a certified electrician, certified in HVAC, and a jack of all trades. He was a trusted volunteer fireman for years, serving his community of Summit Park and the VFD. John served his country honorably in the US Army. He was a hard worker not only on the job, but also at home, growing, harvesting and canning a beautiful garden each year and always taking care of things, such as his home, plants, flowers, fruit trees and the lawn. He imparted great wisdom, shared kindness and love at every turn. He was a devoted family man, who enjoyed spending quality time with every member of his family.
